I recently mounted this FF, I put the transducer on the low end of the hull away from the motor. The thing I don't understand is the transducer after being mounted goes up and down almost completely vertical, the directions say not to tighten the nut to tight so that if it hits debris it won't just snap off but it seems like when I take off the transducer is going to be lifted straight up instead of horizontal to the water. Ant suggestions, is this the way it is supposed to be?
Thanks for the help. Re: Eagle Cuda 168 Thanks for the info guys, I ended up leaving it the the way it is, it is very loose going up and down but mounted tight to the boat, and believe it or not it is working in the water great.

When the boat is out of the water the transducer is facing straight down, but when you put it in the water and start moving forward the propulsion of the water moves it slowly horizontal to the hull, then when you slow to a stop it drops back down and points right underneath your boat. I dont have a cuda but rather a hummingbird but mine came with a stencil for the initial set up angle.
Then you could adjust to satifaction, but it should be tight. I tilted mine down a hair more than the recommended angle for a little more contact with the water at wot. I lose my depth around 45mph. If im by myself it it trys to chinewalk a little.Right, David! And, if your experiences are anything like mine.any thing that your depth finder tells you above 30+ mph.isn't a 'warning', but a varification of just how shallow you ran aground on!
