Note: This product is to be used after students have read the book. Nobody uses figurative language like Jerry Spinelli! This crossword puzzle contains 42 sentences containing figurative language from MANIAC MAGEE. Every clue is an example of simile, metaphor, hyperbole, or personification from the story, and the type of figurative language is defined in parentheses after each clue. A key word in each clue is left out, so students must use their knowledge of the story and their critical thinking skills (not to mention their imaginations) to fill in the blank.
