My dad got a Para Ordnance double stack from my uncle a couple weeks ago. The receiver has been damaged, I assume from being dropped at some point long ago.

I contacted Para to see if they could look up the serial number so we could get an age and possibly see what a new stripped receiver may cost, but have to say I am very unimpressed with their customer service. Or lack there of. Monday I called and after a few minutes on hold I left my number for them to return my call. It is now Friday and heard nothing all week so called again and yet again got the 'we are currently expecting high call volume' message but stayed on the line for almost 15 minutes before their end disconnected me. Anyone else have experience with them? I am a fan of 1911. I own a Colt, Ruger, RIA, and 2 Paras.

The Canadian Paras were pieces of junk, poorly fitted, feeding issues, etc., IMO and I got rid of the one I owned. Remington's parent company bought them out and moved operations to Pineville, NC and actually hired 1911 people to build and fit the weapons. I have to say the recent Paras are awesome, accurate and reliable. I have noticed an issue with customer service since the transition began to move operations to Alabama earlier this year and the ParaProShop site is gone. Before that, you could call and get knowledgeable help and answers. Hopefully after the move, things will return to the norm.

What I like is, I am doing a build and the people at Para would take the time to answer specific questions about their product that no other manufacturer would answer, with the exception of Ruger.
